Nina Zidar Klemenčič is a very well-known Slovenian “star” lawyer, heading her law firm “Law firm Zidar Klemenčič”. The firm claims to provide expert legal assistance with a focus on personalized approaches and resolving complex legal challenges. Nina’s ex-husband is Goran Klemenčič, former Minister of Justice in Slovenia (2014-2018), Nina is prominently featured in many Slovenian political sagas, such as the DARS affair, and most famously for her involvement with the purchase of a building on Litijska street. The seller, Sebastjan Vežnaver, who bought the building in 2020 for 1.7M EUR, was represented by Nina. This same purchase which ultimately led to the resignation of Dominika Svarc Pipan, the Minister of Justice at the time.

Zidar Klemenčič, after boasting about her lobbying capabilities and connections, explains the mechanism of give-and-take in Slovenia. The highest echelons of the Golob administration peddle favors and influence with her, specifically mentioning examples of corruption by Klemen Boštjančič, Minister of Finance of Slovenia, and Matjaž Han, Minister of Economy of Slovenia.

According to Nina, Former President Milan Kucan influences Golob from behind the scenes, and provides him with the necessary media firepower which he controls. In parallel, Mayor Zoran Jankovic, while an ally of Prime Minister Golob, has been hit by a wave of corruption claims and investigations. Despite the apparent criminality, Jankovic has remained untouched. According to Zidar Klemenčič, he’s a “very corrupt figure”, and he “has his 10% and that’s it”. She recounts specific instances of corrupt practices by Jankovic, regarding hotel building permits, which she saw personally.
